This was a pretty good paranormal romance with a sort of typical plot line. Merle's sister is missing so she decides to release a demon that is the same kind as the one who took her sister so that he can help track it. Rhun is a demon that's been trapped in the Shadows for twenty years and he'll do anything it takes to keep from going back, including seducing and stealing the powers of the witch who releases him. What neither expects is that they fall in love with each other but counsel of witches are determined to keep them apart.

Like I said, typical plot line but entertaining characters and some steamy scenes. It could have used more attention to the plot, there was very little action involving finding the sister and that seemed like it should have had more of a driving force. Sometimes the main character annoyed me with her actions as well because she played a typical "I hate you but I want to sleep with you" female character but overall it was a decent story.

Totally loved this one! Zoe is a reporter looking for work so when she's offered a job at Moon Grove, she jumps at the chance. The second she boards the bus to the small town, though, she can tell something is up. The driver is looking at her like lunch and a golden retriever who transforms into a handsome man is the one to greet her. Zoe has stumbled into a magical town full of supernaturals creatures and is beyond shocked when her own witch heritage makes her feel right at home. But there is murder and mayhem in Moon Grove and it's up to Zoe to get to the bottom of it if she wants to make a place for herself there.

This was a super fast-paced book with some great world building. Think Halloweentown but the adult version. Witches are powerful, vampires are scary, and the police force is made up of werewolves. My only complaint was that the beginning seemed a little rushed but it gets you to this new and exciting world that much faster so maybe that's a good thing! The characters are entertaining and the story makes for a quick who-dun-it. I found it very enjoyable to read and will definitely be finding the rest of the series.

Sam Mather is a descendant of one of the original advocates for the Salem Witch Trials, so when she moves to Salem with her stepmom, she isn't exactly welcomed. The local group of witch descendants go after her like she personally attacked their families, but the problem is, bad things are happening around Sam and have all her life. Maybe she really is cursed. This is a great book by Adriana Mather, the first I've read of hers. It has all the classic style of Mean Girls but with witches and ghosts and curses, so it was quite an interesting take. My only critique of the book is that sometimes you're left hanging at the end of a chapter and you don't know exactly what happened until later on. This was most annoying when it also happened at the end of the book, which I thought ended a little abruptly and doesn't tell you how everything was resolved for the main character. Guess I'll have to read the next book to find out!
